The thing that truly matters. It may look like a simple yet loaded question. So many times I need to remind myself of this thing so that I don’t get carried away with the cares of life. We all have a certain amount if the care of life. The important thing is to not let it crowd our vision of the thing that truly matters.
Loving the Lord God with all your heart and your neighbour as yourself.
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
It’s not about having a life that looks so well put together and organised. God knows I will fail if that is the criteria for a life well-lived.
WHEN IS THE PERFECT TIME TO DO THOSE THINGS THAT TRULY MATTERS
Do I need to wait for the time that the conditions are perfect before I do the things that really do matter?
Do I need every certificate in my field to do the things that really matter?
Certificates are good, but if I have to wait till I get them all, I’ll have little time left to do those things that really do matter to me
Do I have to meet up with all those checklists before my life here on earth will count?
No. I don’t think so. Because I am peculiar, my circumstances are peculiar and so also is my human strength. I can’t use another person’s checkbox to mark how well my life is going. The originality of my life is the beauty of it.
Our Lord gave us the perfect checkbox. Love the Lord your God with everything you have and your neighbour as yourself.
OUR SMALL PORTIONS MATTER
The portions of the services you render in the name of God may seem little to other people, but the Lord knows it’s your widow’s myth. It’s all you’ve got.
My alms may appear insignificant, but our Saviour knows it’s the last flour and oil in my Cruz.
I won’t wait for the perfect weather to do the things that matter. Amidst this craziness, and exhaustion and sometimes confusion, I’m gonna give my best.
I know it’s the best I’ve got, and thank God, it is all that really matters. All that matters to God
EVERY MUNDANE TASK MATERS
Every seemingly mundane task of cooking, washing, listening to a friend in need, encouraging a sister, caring for an aged parent, persevering in the face of temptation, having faith on the difficult days, rocking a restless baby to sleep, working from dawn till dusk to provide for the family… When done in love and in the name of the Lord.
All these and many more daily activities done with the right motives are the things that make our life worth living. They are what makes us a living sacrifice.
That is all God asks from us.
Every day IS A PERFECT DAY
Every day that God gives us breath is a perfect day to do the things that makes us genuinely happy. Every day is a perfect day to do what only you can do.
We don’t have to wait until the world approves our readiness. As much as God gives us grace, let us joyfully do those things that really matter to us. We are here at this particular time for a reason. Let’s make it count.
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
